2022 Year in Review

I did a lot of stuff with the radio club this year, I wrote a Year in Review about it on the club webpage.

My big radio things this year were going to the FCG Contest Dinner at Hamcation, usually it’s on the same day as the club meeting. I got to meet quite a few people I knew from on the air and online only, also I won a power supply in the raffle. Hamcation is on the 2nd weekend in February for 2023 and I’ve already got my tickets to this year’s dinner. I also drove up to Dayton this year and did POTA camping on the way. That was a fun adventure. My favorite ham radio purchase of the year was there, my Begali Janus Signature CW paddle.

I did the FL State Parks on the Air event with Corey N4FQ again. I’m not sure the future of the event since he was the organizer and he finally graduated with his EE degree and got a job out of state. I made over 300 CW QSOs at Field Day and then over 675 QSOs in the CQ WW CW from my house, a new record for contest QSOs for me. I did enough Wednesday CWT’s to earn the Silver medal, now I’ll have all 3.

  • 4,260 QSOs in 2022 (+173 from 2021)
  • 11,513 LOTW Confirmed QSOs (+2,189)
  • DXCC mixed 185 (+9)
  • DXCC CW 120 (+17)
  • DXCC Phone 119 (+6)
  • DXCC Digital 152 (+5)
  • Broke 100 on 15m DXCC
  • 15 POTA Activations, hunted 17 parks
  • Lifetime QSOs: 18,005

I haven’t been doing well with my ham radio goals. I did accomplish one last year, we sorted out the club tower finally, now we’re dealing with move the station’s room. Next year I’d like to get 10m DXCC (and maybe 80m) which would get my the 5-Band DXCC award. Also to put up another HF antenna so I can use the diversity receive capability of my radio.
